Is the Divorce Diet a Real Thing?
In a study published in the Journal of Women’s Health, it was reported that divorced menopausal women had a lower BMI, smaller waist circumference, and lower alcohol usage compared to married women of the same age. So, the report begs the question, does Divorce make you healthier? It depends. (I know, I know, the standard attorney answer). Based upon physical health, divorce can actually be linked to better health as evidenced by the study. However, married women reported higher levels of confidence than divorced woman contributing to the conclusion that emotional and mental health of married women is healthier than that of divorced women on average. Therefore, while divorce may not be beneficial for your overall health, it does have potentially positive effects for your physical health habits. Divorce is not something to take lightly and the attorneys at Sommer & O’Donnell will be happy to help you navigate what may be the most emotionally charged time in your life.
